Dialogue window “Histogram” is used to display the distribution density of the image gray value or displacement vector components. It can be accessed by pressing button “Histo.” in the “Image processing” window, or by clicking menus “View\Histogram\Vx”, “View\Histogram\Vy” and “View\Histogram\Vz” in the “Evaluation” window.

The histogram is shown in a frame centered in the window. The horizontal coordinate is the gray value or particle image displacement. The vertical coordinate is the number of image pixels or displacement components. When moving the mouse arrow into the frame, it becomes a small cross. The horizontal position of the mouse cross and the corresponding number are dynamically shown in the two edit boxes blow the frame. A horizontal coordinate value can be typed into the left edit box to get the corresponding number on the right edit box. Buttons “+” and “-” are used to increase or decrease the scale factor of the vertical coordinate. On the lower left corner of the window, button “Exp.” is used to save the histogram in a TECPLOT data file.

The minimal (Min.), maximal (Max.) and standard deviation (Vari.) of the values are displayed above the frame. When moving the mouse arrow into the frame and clicking left mouse, the minimal value is updated with the horizontal position of the mouse arrow (cross). In the similar way, the maximal value is updated with right mouse button clicking. When moving the mouse arrow to the left or right margin and clicking the right or left mouse button, the minimal and maximal values of the horizontal coordinate are reset to the original ones.

Buttons “OK” and “Quit” are used to exit the “Histogram” window. When transferring raw images into Windows Bitmap images, the “OK” and “Quit” button are used to activate and terminate the procedure, respectively.
